Both are ways to stop losing people when you can't get to the phone. They work differently, and the right one depends on your shop. I sell text-back, so take this with that in mind, but I'll try to be fair.
Answering service: unanswered calls forward to a live receptionist (or an automated voice system) who greets the caller with your business name, takes their details, and passes them along to you. Some can book appointments or dispatch emergencies.
Missed-call text-back: when a call goes unanswered, the caller gets a text from your business within seconds asking what they need. They reply by text, and you see the conversation on your phone and pick it up from there.
Watch for: per-minute or per-call pricing that climbs in busy months; receptionists who don't know your trade; messages that still need a callback.
Watch for: some callers won't reply to a text; you still have to respond in a reasonable time; numbers need carrier registration first.
Some shops use text-back during the day, when they're on jobs and can reply between calls, and an answering line after hours. Our After-hours plan is a version of that: text-back plus an automated line that takes the caller's details.
Call a few answering services as if you were a customer and see how they sound. And call (208) 247-3047 without answering to see exactly what a text-back looks like. Five minutes of being the customer will tell you which one fits.
See what a text-back looks like. Call (208) 247-3047, let it go unanswered, and watch the text come back. Plans start at $197/mo for founding clients, with a 30-day pilot and no contract. See pricing.
How texting works: calling the demo line means you'll get a text reply from TextBack Trades (one automatic reply, then only replies to your messages). Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. SMS Terms · Privacy
